Library rules

USER REGULATIONS

As a user of the library you can borrow items from the library and use the library collections, public facilities and services. As a library customer, you are expected to follow the user regulations.

You will receive a library card by producing an identity card. Children under 15 years will need the consent of a parent or guardian.

You can renew the loan if there is no reservation. Items on loan can be reserved. The library reserves the right to restrain the amount of loans, renewals and reservations. Age limits by Finnish board on film classifications are followed on audiovisual items.

Items that do not exist in Pieksämäki public library may also be borrowed from other libraries through the interlending service. General interloan rules are followed in loans through interlending service. A fee is collected on interloan services.

The borrowers may suggest improvements regarding the library collections.

PROTECTION OF LIBRARY USER’S DATA

The user file of the library is used for the lending system only. The library has the right to use the social security number in its database (henkilötietolaki 523/1999, 13 §).The information of the file will not be given to any outsider. Everyone has the right to check upon the recorded information about him/her. The guardian has the right to check upon the recorded information about his/her child.

THE RESPONSIBILITY OF A LIBRARY USER

The library card is personal. The card owner is responsible for the borrowed items and his/her card. Parents or guardians are responsible on loans made by children under 15 years.

A borrower must report any name or address changes to the library. The loss of a library card must be immediately reported to the library because you will be responsible for all the items borrowed with your card before you report the loss of the card. A separate fee is charged for a new card.

You must return your loans by the expiry date. If an item is not returned by the set date, a fine will be charged. Children’s department fines only reminders and bills except for videos and DVDs.

Recreational services board defines all the fees.

Your borrower’s right can be cancelled if you do not return your loans or don’t compensate the loss. You will regain your borrower’s right when you return your expired loans or compensate the loss. The withdrawal of the charged material from library collections will not discontinue the collection agency’s assignment on billed items.

The borrower is responsible to provide a new copy or a similar copy or pay the required sum for the lost or damaged item. Videos, DVDs and cd-rom discs cannot be replaced by a new copy. The library is not responsible for the damage that borrowed recordings may cause to your equipment.
